My Coloring Book Updates

Check the update log below to make sure you have the latest version. If not download it for free!

Not sure which version you have?  Click the [about] button in My Coloring Book.

The download includes all files needed for setting up My Coloring Book, including samples.  If you are upgrading you will normally only need to replace the "mcb.swf" file (unless otherwise noted).

Add-ons: For the latest version check the Add-on Updates.

version 2.2, 15 October 2011 - New Text Tool, and more

The new Text tool lets kids type text onto the coloring page.  A fun addition, perfect for turning a coloring page into a greeting card.

Other changes...

  • If coloring has been done, prompt before changing pages, or closing.
  • Tool options (like brush size, font, etc) only show when applicable tool is in use.
  • Additional keyboard handling (e.g. Ctrl+Z = undo).
  • Warn if file saved without JPEG extension.

A number of the changes require new config options.  See the updated General Configuration article for details.

version 2.1, 1 September 2011 - Print Caption

The new version allows you to stamp coloring pages with a caption when they are printed.  See the updated General Configuration article.

You can also specify a minimum margin for the printed picture.  This can be handy if you are using a virtual printer, such as a PDF writer.

It also fixes up the palette so that it expands and contracts if you configure it to have more or less colors than the default (64 colors).

version 2.0, 30 May 2011 - MAJOR changes

The new version of My Coloring Book has a number of new features, but the most significant is the introduction of overlays.  With overlays you can add logos/branding, add shading and tinting, and other cool effects.  Check out the Using Overlays article.

There are also a number of other changes to allow greater customisation.  You can now change the background colors, set default values for zoom, volume, and brush size and hide the zoom, volume, or brush size controls if you like.

Custom add-ons can now optionally use GET rather than POST for passing data.

Although this is a major upgrade, only the SWF file must be updated.  However because there are also a number of new configuration options you should review your config.xml file.  Read the configuration article, and perhaps compare yours to the one included in the update.

version 1.10.1, 24 May 2011 - Avoiding pop-up blockers

The add-ons have proved very popular, but were having some problems if people had pop-up blockers switched on.  This new version gets around the pop-up blockers.

There are also some minor fixes to correct an error that occurred if buttons such as Save/Print/etc were pressed before the picture had loaded.
